NDSU Meat Scientist Biographies
Dr. Kasey Maddock-Carlin
Dr. Kasey Maddock-Carlin obtained her Bachelor of Science Degrees from NDSU in Animal Science and Biotechnology in 1999. She obtained a Master of Science Degree in Animal Science in 2001 from University of Missouri-Columbia and a Ph.D. in Meat Science from Iowa State University in 2005. She was honored with the ISU Graduate School Research Award in the summer of 2005 for her work on the understanding of cellular environmental conditions on the activity of the calpain system and relationship with meat quality development. She then took a position as a post-doctoral research fellow at NDSU working for the Beef Systems Center for Excellence. In August of 2006, she joined the Animal and Range Sciences faculty at NDSU as an assistant professor and plans on continuing her research on the calpain system as it relates to beef quality as well as understanding genetic, nutritional, and environmental impacts on meat quality.
